REST PERIODS

It is the policy of the Institute to allow two rest periods in each eight hour shift for the convenience of employees.
a. Two fifteen minute rest periods in each eight hours will be observed for employees; one during the first four hours and one during the last four hours of the shift.
b. A rest need not be authorized for employees whose total daily work time is less than 3h hours.
a. The supervisor shall schedule rest periods.
b. The supervisor shall keep the rest periods within the authorized time.
Any exception to this policy requires the approval of the Vice President for Business
Affairs or designee.
